Dostum SMS — your texts, in your inbox.

A personal SMS sync tool for Android. Sync the text messages that arrive on your phone to the email inbox you choose, so you can read your SMS from any device where you check email.

What Dostum SMS does

Dostum SMS runs on an Android phone you personally own. When a new text message arrives, the app sends a copy of that message to the email inbox you configured on the phone. Nothing else — there's no web setup, no multi-destination routing, no rule builder. Pick one email address you trust, and from then on every incoming SMS arrives there within seconds.

The app exists so that you can read your own text messages from any device where you check email — a laptop, a tablet, a second phone you own — without carrying the SMS-receiving phone around with you.

Built and supported by Dostum Amigo SLU. Created by Lukman Hossain.

Permissions explained

Why Dostum SMS needs the permissions it asks for

Syncing incoming SMS to your email is the core function of this app, so the app must be allowed to see incoming messages as they arrive. Android requires the user to grant these permissions explicitly. Here is exactly what each one is used for.

RECEIVE_SMS

Used to detect when a new SMS arrives so the body can be synced to your chosen email inbox. Without this permission, the app cannot know that a message has arrived. We do not request READ_SMS and do not query Android's stored SMS history.

Internet access

Used only to deliver each incoming message to the email address you configured.

What this means in practice. Incoming SMS is delivered to the email address you configure on the phone. Your email provider is the only third party that ever sees the message contents. Dostum Amigo does not sell personal data, does not use SMS content for advertising, and does not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
